Matho canonical collection

Description:

In 2014 the people of Matho, Ladakh, demolished some of their old stupas, and a number of 12./13. cent. (?) manuscript fragments (also fragmentary folios) written in both dbu can and dbu med, including birch-bark mss, came to light. Presently they are collected at Matho Monastery and digitized by our team. These findings contain fragments from all sorts of literary genres: Kanjur, Tanjur (occasionally with considerable divergences from the canonical versions or even representing different versions/translations), ritual, khrid yig, ..., and also philosophical commentaries that could be of Tibetan (Kadampa, Sakyapa ?) or even local origin.
