DescriptionThe 'Jang sa tham printed edition of the Kanjur is a set of 108 volumes also known as the Lithang Edition (理塘). This edition was made under the patronage of Mu zeng (理塘 1587-1646), king of 'Jang sa tham under the supervision of the 6th Zhva dmar gar dbang chos kyi dbang phyug. The Tshal pa edition of the Kanjur located in 'Phying ba stag rtse was used for this edition which was completed in 1621. The xylographic boards were transfered to the monastery of Byams pa glings in Lithang (therefore the double name of this edition) by the Mongolian troops which controlled the region in the 17th cent.
